Bosnia’s SPID Swimming Club tops team rankings at Sarajevo Open 2026

With the victory of the SPID Swimming Club in the overall team standings, the seventh edition of the international para-swimming meet Sarajevo Open 2026 concluded at the Otoka Olympic Pool.

It marks one of the most significant competitions of its kind in the region, CE Report quotes FENA.

Competing against 17 clubs from seven European countries, along with three national teams, the host team once again demonstrated its quality by securing first place with a total of 467 points. Second place went to the Croatian national team with 406 points, while Cipal Split finished third with 257 points.

During the two-day competition, spectators had the opportunity to watch outstanding performances by para-swimmers from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia, Montenegro, Austria, and Germany. Special attention was drawn to Bosnia and Herzegovina’s top representatives.

Among them were Ismail Barlov, a medalist at the Paralympic Games, World Championships, and European Championships, as well as Ismail Zulfić, holder of a European record and one of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s most successful para-swimmers.

The Sarajevo Open also featured renowned Croatian national team member Dino Sinovčić, a Paralympic medalist and multiple medal winner at world and European championships.

In addition to the sporting program, the event also included a professional seminar organized within the framework of the European project ParaSwimInclusion, bringing together coaches and experts from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, and Montenegro. A theater performance was also organized for the youngest visitors, further confirming Sarajevo Open’s inclusive character and social significance.
