North Macedonia impresses at Balkan U20 Athletics Championships

North Macedonia's athletes delivered an excellent performance at the Balkan U20 Athletics Championships, held this weekend in Craiova, Romania.

The national team returns home with one silver medal, two new national U20 records, and numerous personal bests, CE Report informs via the Athletic Federation of North Macedonia's official Facebook account.

The women's 4x100m relay team won the silver medal and set a new national U20 record with a time of 48.95 seconds. The team consisted of Eva Mitevska, Tamara Atanasovska, Lina Iseni, and Marta Dimkovska, breaking a record that had stood since 1999.

Brian Avia set a new national U20 record in the long jump with a leap of 7.15m, improving his own previous record by four centimeters and finishing sixth. He also placed fifth in the high jump, clearing 2.04m.

Ivan Popovski achieved a new personal best of 1.91m in the high jump, finishing ninth.

In the 100m, Eva Mitevska set a new personal best of 12.40 seconds to finish 11th, while Tamara Atanasovska recorded a personal best of 12.63 seconds, placing 13th.

Marta Dimkovska finished 10th in the 400m with a time of 59.84 seconds, while Lina Iseni placed 12th in the long jump with a mark of 5.23m.

In the men's 100m, Dimitar Korchakovski did not finish the race after a failed start, while Marko Aleksovski was forced to withdraw due to an injury sustained during the warm-up.

The North Macedonian team was coached by Gjorgji Vuchkov and Bozhurka Gjoshevska.
