Liverpool's new manager, Andoni Iraola, held his first press conference since taking charge at Anfield. The 44-year-old Spaniard will aim to guide the club to a better finish than last season, when Liverpool ended the Premier League campaign in fifth place.

Before joining Liverpool, Iraola managed Bournemouth from 2023, where he successfully implemented a high-pressing, progressive style of football focused on quick attacking play, CE Report quotes MIA.

The Reds have so far signed two players: central defender Jérémy Jacquet from Rennes and winger Víctor Muñoz from Osasuna.

"We've already signed two players, but we need more. We know that. The club is working on it. As a coach, selfishly, I want the players here from day one to train during pre-season. But we know football doesn't work like that," Iraola said.

The Spanish coach succeeds Arne Slot and will have to adapt the team to life without Mohamed Salah, who had been Liverpool's standout player in recent years. He will also have to deal with injuries to Hugo Ekitike, Conor Bradley, and Giovanni Leoni.

Liverpool will begin the new Premier League season away to Newcastle United on 23 August. As part of their pre-season preparations, they are scheduled to play friendlies against Sunderland, Wrexham, Leeds United, Monaco, and Como.
