Bulgaria, Türkiye discuss transport cooperation in Istanbul
Bulgaria's Regional Development Minister Nikolay Naydenov took part in the 17th ITS European Congress in Istanbul, the Ministry's press centre said on Monday.
The forum is a key event in smart mobility and intelligent transport, bringing together experts, researchers and public authorities to present practical solutions, innovations and technologies, CE Report quotes BTA.
On the sidelines of the congress, Naydenov held a working meeting with Türkiye's Deputy Transport and Infrastructure Minister Omer Sayan. The two discussed ways to enhance infrastructure cooperation between Bulgaria and Türkiye. They expressed readiness to deepen cooperation to increase transport capacity and connectivity along the north-south axis, including through the construction of the Black Sea Motorway.
Naydenov also met Mehmet Cahit Turhan, CEO of the company that built and operates the Northern Marmara Motorway, and his team. The motorway, managed using ITS technologies, includes the recently completed Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge, one of the tallest bridges in the world. The Turkish side expressed readiness to share experience in the construction and management of large-scale infrastructure projects, the Ministry said.
