Three Turkish nationals aboard MV Hondius after hantavirus cases were recorded will be brought back to Türkiye and quarantined, Türkiye’s Ministry of Health said on X.

The ministry’s post said the three Turkish nationals had been aboard an international cruise ship and that their health was being closely monitored, CE Report quotes BTA.

It added that, during monitoring carried out in coordination with the relevant international organizations, no symptoms or signs of the disease had been found in them.

The authorities gave assurances that, once the three passengers arrive in Türkiye, they will be placed under quarantine and their condition will be closely monitored by the ministry.

On Sunday, MV Hondius, where a hantavirus outbreak was recorded, entered the port of Granadilla in the southern part of the Spanish island of Tenerife, part of the Canary Islands. Three passengers aboard the ship died from the viral infection.
