Albania expands free medical check-ups

Health

Albania will expand its national free basic health check-up programme from September to cover all citizens over the age of 35, with no upper age limit, the Health and Social Protection Ministry said on Sunday.

Under the expanded programme, everyone over 35 will be eligible for free periodic medical check-ups as part of the public healthcare system, CE Report quotes ATA.

To access the service, citizens should contact the health centre where they are registered for information on the procedures for receiving the check-up, the ministry said.

The expansion is aimed at improving access to regular health screening and strengthening preventive care by identifying risk factors and potential health problems at an early stage.

The Basic Medical Check-Up programme is one of the free services provided through Albania’s public healthcare system, with a focus on prevention and regular monitoring of people’s health.
