Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Recean has nominated Dorin Junghietu for the position of energy minister, pending approval from President Maia Sandu, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES

Junghietu, an expert in gas and energy with over 16 years of international experience, will be responsible for managing Moldova’s strategic energy sector. Recean outlined key priorities, including enhancing energy security, ensuring stable gas and electricity supplies at competitive rates, and accelerating major investment projects, particularly in renewable energy and the completion of the Vulcănești-Chișinău power line.

Junghietu previously won the contest to lead Moldovagaz’s administrative board, but Gazprom has yet to approve the appointment. Recean emphasized that his expertise would be more beneficial in the role of energy minister.

The position has been vacant since December, following the dismissal of former Minister Victor Parlicov and other officials over gas procurement issues.
