The Prime Minister highlighted ongoing support from European partners, both technical and financial, under the Growth Plan for Moldova. He emphasized the importance of using these resources efficiently to implement reforms that boost local economies and support development initiatives such as the European Village program.

Recean called for greater involvement of local mayors in decision-making and stressed the need to strengthen cooperation mechanisms between central and local governments.

The meeting also addressed the expansion of sectoral working groups to include agriculture and European integration, as well as a proposal to create a new group focused on local public administration.

Other issues discussed included water basin delimitation, energy compensation for local authorities, increasing local revenue sources, and improving the visibility of local governments in national policy planning.

The Joint Commission for Decentralization serves as a key platform bringing together government officials, local authorities, development partners, and civil society to coordinate efforts for Moldova’s local development.
