Moldova extends Moldovagaz mandate to supply gas to Transnistria
The authorities have decided to extend the decision designating Moldovagaz as the entity responsible for supplying natural gas to the Transnistrian region in order to ensure the delivery of energy resources to the area in compliance with all rules, as Moldovan citizens live there and must be taken care of.
The statement was made today by Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES.
“We do this periodically, every few months, through the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE). It is the license that ANRE, after analyzing all the evidence, grants in order to allow the import of fuels and gas to the left bank of the Nistru. And we must do this under careful supervision, following all the criteria. Because we are talking about people, about our citizens and businesses. They are ours and we must take care of them, but carefully, very carefully. That is why it is not granted for an unlimited period, but periodically, so we can see whether everything is transparent,” Igor Grosu said before today’s parliamentary session.
The National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE) decided on Wednesday, March 4, that Moldovagaz will remain responsible for supplying natural gas to the Transnistrian region for another three months, covering the period April 1 to June 30, 2026. The decision was taken at the request of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Moldova.
The ministry justified the decision by the need to maintain the continuity of the existing operational and contractual arrangements.
Last summer, ANRE designated Moldovagaz as responsible for supplying natural gas to the Transnistrian region for the period September 1, 2025 – March 31, 2026.
