Moldova, Romania strengthen ties at unprecedented level
Republic of Moldova and Romania continue to strengthen their ties at an unprecedented level, marked by intensive political dialogue and broad cooperation across multiple strategic areas.
This partnership was reconfirmed, when Mihai Mîțu presented his letters of accreditation to the Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Oana-Silvia Țoiu, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES.
The ceremony included extensive discussions on bilateral relations, with both sides noting the exceptional dynamism of Moldovan-Romanian cooperation. High-level political interactions and the diversity of collaborative fields were emphasized.
During the meeting, both parties reaffirmed their determination to expand and diversify bilateral cooperation, focusing on key sectors such as the economy, infrastructure, energy, regional cooperation, and interinstitutional links. Officials highlighted that joint projects directly contribute to modernizing Moldova and deepening its integration into the European space.
A central point of the discussion was Romania’s support for Moldova’s European integration. Mihai Mîțu stressed Romania’s role as the “main supporter of the country’s European path, including the official opening of accession negotiations across all six clusters.” Cooperation in managing other EU accession-related dossiers was also highlighted.
The Romanian Foreign Minister expressed confidence that the new ambassador’s mandate would bring “a new impetus to Moldovan-Romanian relations, grounded in deep historical, cultural, and linguistic ties.” He praised the current dynamism of bilateral dialogue and underlined the potential to expand collaboration in areas of common interest.
Additionally, the Romanian side reiterated its willingness to “strengthen cooperation across all levels in a manner reflecting mutual commitment, including in the current regional security context marked by major challenges.”
The presentation of letters of accreditation marks an important formal step in assuming the diplomatic mandate and confirms the continuity of the strategic dialogue between Moldova and Romania at a defining moment for Chișinău’s European path.
