MPs Approve Law on Amnesty and Parole

Moldova

Today, the MPs voted in favor of a draft law clarifying the enforcement of Articles 91 and 92 of the Criminal Code in relation to amnesty. The new interpretation stipulates that individuals whose life sentences have been commuted to prison terms will no longer be eligible for early parole, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES

The amendments aim to prevent individuals from benefiting from both sentence commutation and early parole. This clarification will also apply to those already released on parole.

Additionally, lawmakers passed the first reading of a draft law to ensure proper implementation of the Criminal Code, the Law on Amnesty for Moldova's 30th anniversary, and the Criminal Procedure Code.
