Moldovan canoeist wins European gold in Portugal
Moldovan canoeist Serghei Tarnovschi claimed the gold medal at the European Canoe Sprint and Paracanoe Championships held in Montemor-o-Velho, Portugal, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES.
Tarnovschi secured the title in the men's 5,000-meter canoe event, delivering an impressive performance to finish first with a time of 23:06.332.
The Moldovan athlete crossed the finish line ahead of Hungary's Balázs Adolf, who took silver with a time of 23:19.199, and Poland's Wiktor Głazunow, who finished third in 23:48.723.
This marks Tarnovschi's second consecutive European title in the 5,000-meter event. He also won gold at the previous European Championships in Račice, Czech Republic, where he recorded a time of 23:29.537.
Meanwhile, Moldova's women's canoe duo of Daniela Cociu and Elena Glizan finished fifth in the women's C2 500-meter event.
Tarnovschi's latest triumph further strengthens his reputation as one of Moldova's most successful canoeists and adds another major international title to his career achievements.
