The European Union recognizes the progress made by Moldova in its accession process, but the advancement of negotiations will depend on the authorities' ability to turn reforms into tangible results for citizens, according to Moldova's Bureau for European Integration, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES.

According to the institution, the first group of negotiation chapters, Cluster 1 – "Fundamental Values", forms the foundation of the entire accession process and focuses on strengthening democratic institutions, judicial reform, anti-corruption efforts, the protection of fundamental rights, and the modernization of public administration.

"The European Union recognizes Moldova's progress and is ready to advance accession negotiations. However, success depends on the country's ability to transform reforms into concrete results for citizens: fair justice, strong institutions, anti-corruption measures, better public services, a competitive economy, and full respect for fundamental rights," the Bureau for European Integration stated.

The institution emphasized that the pace of accession negotiations will be determined by how effectively the agreed reforms produce real changes in people's lives and contribute to bringing Moldova closer to European standards.

According to the Bureau, Cluster 1 is aimed at building a state with efficient and accountable institutions, an independent judiciary, a modern public administration, and high-quality services for citizens.

"Cluster 1 is about building a Moldova with strong institutions, fair justice, efficient administration, protected rights, and an economy prepared for full integration into the European Union," the Bureau added.

Moldova officially opened negotiations on Cluster 1 – "Fundamental Values" during the second Moldova–European Union Intergovernmental Conference held in Luxembourg.

This is the first chapter cluster in the accession process and covers areas such as the rule of law, the functioning of democratic institutions, public administration reform, the judicial system, and fundamental rights.
