Drunk raccoon breaks into Virginia liquor store
The staff of a liquor store in Virginia were shocked when they arrived at work and discovered that the store had been broken into by a drunk raccoon.
The “masked bandit” was found passed out in the bathroom, between the toilet and the trash can, after helping itself to some drinks from the lower shelves, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.
Animal control officer Samantha Martin transported the “suspect” for “questioning” to the Hanover County Animal Protection and Shelter Center, but not before giving it some time to sober up a little.
After several hours of sleep and with no signs of injury except perhaps a “hangover,” the animal was safely released back into the wild.
Ashland ABC store had been closed for Thanksgiving Day when the “Black Friday break-in” occurred.
When staff arrived on Saturday, they found broken bottles and spilled alcohol on the floor — including what appeared to be the raccoon’s drink of choice, Scotch whisky.
Officer Martin said the animal had fallen through one of the ceiling tiles before beginning a “full destruction, drinking everything,” according to the BBC.
There is only one blurry image from the security cameras, so it is not known exactly how much alcohol the thirsty creature consumed before passing out in the bathroom.
In a social media post, the store thanked the Hanover County Animal Protection and Shelter Center for giving their visitor a “sober ride home.”
