Bulgaria and North Macedonia strengthen health cooperation

The Government on Thursday approved a draft 2026–2028 healthcare cooperation plan with North Macedonia.

The document, which will serve as a basis for negotiations, is between the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Ministry of Health of the Republic of North Macedonia, CE Report quotes BTA.

The three-year Cooperation Plan covers the following main areas: primary, specialized and hospital medical care; prevention and control of communicable and non-communicable diseases, including HIV/AIDS; epidemiological surveillance and emergency management; health legislation, statistics and eHealth.

Cooperation between research institutes, universities and medical institutions in the two countries will also be encouraged to facilitate the exchange of experience in medical science and information on medicinal products, as well as the development of new technologies and medical equipment.

Cooperation under the Plan will be carried out within the budgetary resources available to each country.

Implementing the Cooperation Plan will help deepen bilateral relations, promote exchanges of information, experience and specialists, and create opportunities to participate in national and international healthcare events, the Government Information Service said.
