Zelensky says peace efforts to top UN agenda
Following another Russian attack on Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelensky said he would raise at the UN General Assembly the question of how peace can be achieved through joint efforts. According to him, this is the main task that all leaders should be working on.
The head of state said this on Facebook, CE Report quotes Ukrinform.
"Russia is not backing down from its escalation and is sending many signals that it is ready to expand the war. All of this is happening as the stability of the world has already been shattered by this war. We must continue pressuring the aggressor to bring this war to an end. Every response and every long-range sanction is part of the pressure that is actually working, and the world can feel it. But diplomacy must work in parallel. At the UN General Assembly, we will discuss how we can achieve peace through joint efforts. This is the main task that all leaders should be working on," Zelensky said.
He recalled that Russia attacks Ukrainian cities every day. In particular, he said, the enemy carried out an especially severe and deliberate attack on Zaporizhzhia yesterday. Nine-story residential buildings, a university building, a shopping center and a boiler house were damaged. As of now, Zelensky said, five people are known to have been injured, and some residents were evacuated.

"In Lozova, Kharkiv region, a woman was killed in a drone strike. My condolences to her family and loved ones. Three other people were injured. Overall, the Russians struck 10 of our regions in the evening and throughout the night," the President said.
As reported, on September 22, the high-level week of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly will begin at UN Headquarters in New York, with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky scheduled to participate.
Zelensky will address the general debate on Wednesday, September 23. On the same day, he will participate in a UN Security Council meeting under the agenda item "Maintenance of Peace and Security of Ukraine."
In New York, Volodymyr Zelensky also plans to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump.
