Moldova boosts cultural tourism with major festival partnership
The open-air classical music festival “DescOperă” is returning in 2026 with a spectacular anniversary edition, marking 10 years since its launch and offering the public a unique artistic experience.
The event will take place from June 19–21 in Butuceni, Moldova, and for the first time will be preceded by a preview event on June 18, extending the festival to four days dedicated to culture and high-quality music, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES.
This year’s edition introduces an innovative stage concept: on each of the three main evenings, the stage will be placed in a different location, giving audiences new perspectives and a distinct atmosphere each time. The festival will open with the famous opera “The Barber of Seville”, performed by the Bucharest National Opera, promising an exceptional start.
As part of the organization of the 9th edition, Culture Minister Cristian Jardan and Elena Stepanov, Executive Director of the National Association for Inbound and Domestic Tourism of Moldova, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on a strategic partnership.
The document aims to strengthen cooperation, establish a shared vision, and define responsibilities for planning, promoting, and organizing the festival. It also focuses on developing cultural tourism and enhancing the image of Moldova as an attractive cultural destination.
The detailed program for each evening, as well as access and organizational information, will be announced later.
