Bulgaria, Greece to create joint wine tourism route

Bulgaria and Greece will create a joint cultural and tourism route dedicated to viticulture, wine and the cultural heritage associated with them, the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki, the project’s lead partner, said.

The Cultural Path of Wine Initiative will cover northern Greece and southern Bulgaria, linking archaeological sites, museums, wineries and festivals into a single themed route. According to the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki, the project will present the development of viniculture, wine production and consumption from the antiquity to the present day, and the cultural heritage associated with Dionysus, CE Report quotes BTA.

The first meeting on the project will take place on September 18 at the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki, the Interreg Greece-Bulgaria programme said.

The Greek partners are the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki and the Wine Makers of Northern Greece, while the Bulgarian partners are the Archaeological Museum in Sandanski and the Recreation and Development Union.

This project is one of the six approved initiatives from the 163 submitted proposals, the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki said.
