Moldova, Romania launch joint cultural cinema project
The façade of the "Ginta Latină" Culture and Art Center in Chișinău will be rehabilitated as part of a cross-border cultural project launched in the Moldovan capital.
The project, titled "CINEMA – Reintegration of Public Cinemas into the Cultural Life of Iași and Chișinău," has a total value of over €1.6 million and aims to revive cinematography in public spaces by improving cultural infrastructure, producing joint film projects, organizing film festivals, theater performances, and activities dedicated to children and young people from rural areas, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES.
"This project is an investment in the shared cultural future of Moldova and Romania, and especially in reconnecting people to new cinematic experiences. Public cinemas are not just places where films are screened — they are centers of dialogue, education, and creativity. Through cooperation with our partners in Iași, we want to restore these spaces to their authentic role: uniting communities, generations, and perspectives," said Andrei Chistol, State Secretary of the Ministry of Culture.
The National Tourism Office of the Republic of Moldova supports such initiatives that bring together culture, heritage, and tourism, helping to promote a vibrant and attractive image of the country as a tourist destination.
The CINEMA Project is being implemented in partnership by the "Ginta Latină" Culture and Art Center in Chișinău and the National Athenaeum of Iași, with a total value of over €1.6 million, funded through the Interreg NEXT Romania–Republic of Moldova Program.
