Timothée Chalamet, Selena Gomez team up for animation
Timothée Chalamet and Selena Gomez will join forces in Not Alone, a new alien-themed animated film produced by Illumination, the studio behind blockbuster franchises such as Despicable Me and The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
Making his voice-acting debut in an animated feature, Chalamet will voice Joe, an “introverted rocket mechanic who leads a quiet and solitary life,” according to an announcement made during the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, CE Report quotes ANSA.
Gomez, who previously lent her voice to three films in the Hotel Transylvania series as well as Dolittle, will play Fran, a “brilliant astro-botanist developing the world's first plant-powered rocket.”
When Joe and Fran are brought together to prepare the inaugural launch of the revolutionary rocket, they immediately feel a connection. However, according to the film's synopsis, neither of them is particularly skilled at romance.
Things become more complicated when three small and mischievous aliens take refuge in Joe's home.
The aliens — Dunk, Welly, and Shirm — are fleeing across the galaxy from an overzealous and clumsy police officer named Zandro, who will be voiced by Brett Goldstein of Ted Lasso fame.
The aliens soon discover that Fran's rocket may be the key to helping them return safely to their home planet.
