James Senese, saxophonist, founder of The Showmen and Napoli Centrale, and longtime member of Pino Daniele’s band, has died at the age of 80, CE Report quotes ANSA.

He had been hospitalized at the Cardarelli Hospital in Naples at the end of September due to a severe lung infection.

The news of his passing was announced on social media by lifelong friend Enzo Avitabile, who wrote:

“Words are not enough for such great pain — only a thank you! Thank you for your talent, dedication, passion, and pursuit. You were an example in music and in life. A friend like a brother, a brother like a friend. Forever.”
