Slovenian top designer stuns with sustainable fashion

Slovenian fashion and costume designer Matea Benedetti, a pioneer in ethical luxury fashion, has shown her creations at an outdoor fashion extravaganza in Nova Gorica in one of the high points of the 2025 European Capital of Culture programme.

Benedetti, the founder of the sustainable and vegan brand Benedetti Life, presented 40 designs made from materials such as sugar cane, pineapple, eucalyptus, recycled electronics, tin cans, plastic bottles, and recycled clothing, CE Report quotes The Slovenia Times.

Dedicated to people and the planet, the 13 September fashion show featured musical acts such as the Slovenian pop music icon Helena Blagne and electronic music duo Silence and dancers of the MN Dance Company.

Benedetti's green dress made of old electronic chips was first worn by African actress Tarina Patel at the 2024 Venice International Film Festival.
