Three more countries consider Eurovision withdrawal over Israel
Ireland, Spain, and Slovenia have expressed opposition to Israel’s possible inclusion in the Eurovision Song Contest 2026, increasing the likelihood of withdrawals from the competition, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.
In a statement, Ireland's national broadcaster RTÉ said:
“Ireland will not participate in Eurovision 2026 if Israel continues to be included. A final decision will be made once the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) announces its position.”
RTÉ emphasized that participation would be “unreasonable, given the ongoing and horrific loss of life in Gaza.”
On Monday, Spain’s Minister of Culture, Ernest Urtasun, publicly opened the door to Spain’s potential withdrawal if Israel is not excluded.
On Friday, Slovenia’s public broadcaster RTV Slovenija announced that Slovenia would not take part in Eurovision 2026 if Israel is allowed to return.
