Lil Nas X’s Father Shares Emotional Details of Son’s Arrest
Robert Stafford shared details of the dramatic "crisis" and arrest of his son in new emotional comments, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.
“I went to visit him in jail, and as soon as I passed that door, I couldn’t do anything but cry. To see my little boy on the other side of that glass. We shed tears together for a minute,” the father of Lil Nas X told Sunday Times.
Stafford recalled telling his 26-year-old son, “what you’re going through is normal. We all have crises from time to time, but the difference is yours is happening in the public eye.”
He also expressed regret over the August 21 incident involving the singer, whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill.
“When I went to visit, he asked me to tell ‘everyone I’m sorry they saw me like that,’” he continued. “Even at that moment, he was apologizing to people for something he was going through.”
The Grammy-winning artist was arrested last Thursday after being seen nearly naked and singing in Los Angeles.
The star pleaded not guilty to the charges, posting a $75,000 bail after spending a weekend in jail. He was released Monday after a judge ordered him to attend rehab meetings.
The "Old Town Road" hitmaker later called the experience “terrible” on social media.
“But your daughter will be fine,” he reassured fans.
