Sofia: 35 Years of Urban Change

Culture

An exhibition titled "The Last 35. Fragments of Contemporary Urban Architectural Landscapes of Sofia 1989–2024" explores how Sofia’s cityscape has evolved over the past 35 years. Hosted at the Cinema House gallery in Sofia, the exhibition is open from May 17 to May 31. It is organized by "Ellipse Projects," led by architect Lubomira Marekova, CE Report quotes BTA

Using photographs from the BTA archive and various visualizations, the exhibition presents a visual narrative of Sofia’s transformation through four thematic sections. These reflect shifting urban moods—from the optimism of the early 1990s, through a decade of upheaval, to the growing sense of civil identity and urban belonging in recent years.
