The painting "Little Peasant Girl Resting" by Nicolae Grigorescu was sold for €365,000 at Artmark's winter auction on Thursday evening, marking a new record for Romania's art market since 1990, according to a press release, CE Report quotes Agerpres

Initially estimated at €100,000–€200,000, the oil-on-canvas work surpassed the previous record held by Grigorescu's "Peasant Girl with White Headscarf", sold for €340,000 in 2018.

Artmark also auctioned three additional Grigorescu works that evening, bringing the total earnings from his paintings to over half a million euros. Notable sales included "Shepherd with His Flock of Sheep" for €95,000, "Ox Carts, On the Field" for €40,000, and "Hay Gathering" for €50,000.

Another highlight was Eustatiu Stoenescu's "Concert at the Athenaeum (conducted by George Enescu)", sold for €47,500. This 1946 painting depicts a Wagner concert at the Romanian Athenaeum in 1937 and is now the artist’s most valuable work, surpassing his 2012 record of €36,000 for "The Lamp from Drăghiceni."
