Bosnian students explore bioclimatic design at Hutovo Blato Nature Park
Hutovo Blato Nature Park in Bosnia and Herzegovina hosted students from the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Sarajevo as part of their coursework in Bioclimatic Architecture, under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Haris Bradić.
The visit highlighted the importance of linking nature conservation with contemporary architectural planning, CE Report quotes FENA.
The study visit was organized with the aim of familiarizing students with the park’s area, its natural features, and the practical challenges of managing a protected site.
During the tour, discussions focused on balancing nature preservation with development, possibilities for planning visitor infrastructure, and the role of architecture in sensitive natural ecosystems.
Representatives of the academic community were also introduced to the ADRISKY project – Advancing Light Pollution Mitigation for Biodiversity and Nocturnal Habitats Conservation in the Adriatic-Ionian Region, which Hutovo Blato Nature Park is implementing with partners and is co-financed through the Interreg IPA ADRION programme.
Special emphasis was placed on the need for a sustainable and thoughtful approach to spatial planning, taking into account existing planning frameworks and natural values.
The importance of architectural solutions that help reduce light pollution was also highlighted, through the use of appropriate materials, technologies, and lighting design in harmony with the natural environment.
