Israel keeps beaches closed despite start of summer season

Starting today, beaches in Israel should have opened for the spring/summer season.
However, they will not be usable except in a “clandestine” way.

This is because the state has decided that the 160 permitted beaches across the country will remain closed due to the war with Iran, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.

“The Israeli Ministry of Interior has decided, in accordance with the guidelines of the IDF Home Front Command, that the country’s beaches will remain closed at this stage,” reported the news agency tps-il, cited by KosovaPress. “The official spring/summer beach season in Israel was scheduled to open today, Wednesday, March 25, 2026. However, according to the Home Front Command guidelines, beaches will remain closed to the public until further notice and until measures are eased.”

Iran has intensified rocket attacks on Israel in recent days, targeting not only military and security sites. This is in retaliation for bombings that the Jewish state began, together with the U.S., against the Islamic Republic on February 28.

Nevertheless, as part of preparations for opening the beaches, the Ministry of Interior, according to media reports, has completed full preparations for the start of the swimming season at 160 coastal guard stations nationwide, including 16 designated as separated swimming areas: 106 stations on the Mediterranean Sea, 34 on the Sea of Galilee, 16 on the Dead Sea, and 4 on the Red Sea.
