Microsoft Teams to track employees via office Wi-Fi
Microsoft Teams is preparing to deal a potential blow to those who enjoy the peace and quiet of working from home, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.
In a new feature update scheduled for December 2025, the platform will be able to track an employee’s location using their office Wi-Fi connection — allowing managers to verify whether workers are physically present.
From a manager’s perspective, this could eliminate confusion about where team members actually are.
But for remote workers who’ve found a calm and productive home setup, consider this a warning: Teams may soon be watching.
According to Microsoft’s 365 roadmap:
“When users connect to their organization’s Wi-Fi, Teams will automatically set their work location to reflect the building they’re in.”
The feature will also automatically update the employee’s location once the Wi-Fi connection is established.
