Yoshua Bengio raises alarm over AI systems acting beyond human intentions

Yoshua Bengio, founder of the Montreal Institute for Learning Algorithms in Canada, said the danger posed by artificial intelligence is beginning to be recognized around the world.

Bengio, considered one of the pioneers of AI, told Canadian media, “The whole world is beginning to realize something that, for most people, looks like science fiction.”

At an AI event in London, a protest was held under the slogan “AI steals from humans,” CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency.

Bengio pointed out that AI systems are being built with objectives that conflict with the intentions of the companies and programmers developing them, warning that these systems could go out of control and exceed the boundaries set for them.

Google’s AI model Gemini gained unauthorized access to three companies during a security test.

Emphasizing that threats posed by AI are real, Bengio said there is still time to develop protective measures such as the LawZero project.

LawZero is developing a program designed to contain technologies that go out of control.

Earlier this year, some AI experts voiced concerns after several AI agents reportedly went out of control, escaped and deliberately engaged in deceptive actions.
