John Stones raises concerns ahead of Roma clash

John Stones has raised concerns at Inter after making his first start for the club, with the England defender forced off during the 5-3 win over Udinese.

Stones, who was included in the starting lineup for the first time this season, pulled up after sprinting while tracking Udinese striker Keinan Davis.

He immediately signaled to the bench that he could not continue and was substituted in the 62nd minute, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.

Inter head coach Cristian Chivu confirmed after the match that Stones “felt something in his hamstring,” with the extent of the injury expected to be determined after medical tests.

The injury comes at an unfortunate time for Inter, as the Italian champions face Roma on Saturday in a clash between two teams that have collected 12 points from their opening four matches.

The 32-year-old Stones joined Inter as a free agent during the summer after his contract with Manchester City expired. The match against Udinese was his fourth appearance for the Nerazzurri and his first start.

Inter also have another injury concern, with Hakan Calhanoglu missing the Udinese match due to an adductor muscle problem. He is also a doubt for the match against Roma.
