Moldovan athlete wins bronze at Beach Sambo World Championships
Moldova's Bălți athlete Maxim Iuhnevici has won a bronze medal at the Beach Sambo World Championships, held on the coast of Caraguatatuba, São Paulo, Brazil.
Maxim Iuhnevici secured the medal after defeating Costa Rican Esteban Brenes in the bronze-medal bout. The Moldovan athlete finished third in the under-88 kg category, alongside Kazakhstan’s Azat Kuanov, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES.
Around 75 athletes from 24 countries took part in this year’s Beach Sambo World Championships.
This is Maxim Iuhnevici’s second bronze medal at a major international competition this year. Earlier, the Bălți athlete also claimed third place at the European Senior Sambo Championships.
Maxim Iuhnevici was the only representative of the Republic of Moldova at the Beach Sambo World Championships. His participation in the competition in Brazil was made possible with financial support from the Ministry of Education and Research.
