PSG President rules out FIFA presidency bid

Paris Saint-Germain President Nasser Al-Khelaifi has dismissed speculation that he will run for FIFA president in the 2027 election, despite reported efforts by several UEFA officials to persuade him to challenge Gianni Infantino, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.

According to Politico and RMC Sport, tensions between UEFA and FIFA have increased following FIFA's plan to create and sell a stake in its commercial rights, a project critics have described as the "sale of the World Cup."

"Nasser has absolutely no ambition, no intention, and no interest in this role at FIFA. He will continue to quietly support the institutions of world and European football," a source close to Al-Khelaifi told RMC Sport.

Although Al-Khelaifi had been viewed as a strong potential candidate due to his influence as president of Paris Saint-Germain, chairman of the European Club Association (ECA), and head of BeIN Media Group, sources close to him described reports of a possible candidacy as "nothing more than media noise."

Meanwhile, Gianni Infantino remains the clear favorite to secure another term as FIFA president.

According to RMC Sport, Infantino continues to enjoy strong backing from football federations across Africa, Asia, and South America, which have benefited from increased revenues and funding programs during his tenure.
