Robert Lewandowski turns down Barcelona contract extension

Robert Lewandowski is expected to leave FC Barcelona at the end of the season, bringing an end to a successful four-year spell at Camp Nou.

According to recent reports, the Catalan club’s management had offered him a one-year contract extension, but with a reduced salary and a smaller role—terms that the veteran striker did not accept, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.

Since joining in 2022, Lewandowski has been one of the team’s key figures, scoring around 120 goals in all competitions. However, as he approaches the age of 38 and with the club planning a squad rebuild, a separation now appears inevitable.

Juventus and AC Milan have both shown interest in signing him and are reportedly in discussions to bring him in as a free agent this summer. Although there has also been interest from Major League Soccer, particularly from Chicago Fire FC, the Polish striker prefers to continue his career in Europe.

Meanwhile, Barcelona has already begun searching for a replacement, with Julián Álvarez of Atlético Madrid at the top of the list. The Argentine forward is valued at around €120 million, a figure that poses a financial challenge for the Catalan club.
