Real Madrid guard faces uncertain recovery timeline
Real Madrid’s French basketball player Theo Maledon will be sidelined after tests carried out on Friday revealed an injury to the adductor longus muscle in his right leg.
According to a statement by the Madrid-based club, reported by EFE, the defensive player will be out for an indefinite period, with his recovery process to be closely monitored, CE Report quotes AGERPRES.
Maledon was forced to leave the court after playing just one minute and eleven seconds in the first half of Thursday’s EuroLeague game, in which Real Madrid secured a comfortable 90–78 victory over Monaco.
The French player had suffered a similar injury in mid-September, this time to the adductor brevis muscle in his left thigh, which kept him out for several days.
The 24-year-old joined Real Madrid last summer after transferring from French side Lyon-Villeurbanne. So far this season, Maledon has appeared in 36 games, recording a total of 361 points and 116 assists.
Maledon is under contract with Real Madrid until the end of June 2027. He previously spent four seasons in the NBA, playing for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Charlotte Hornets, and Phoenix Suns.
