
Telecoms Key to Security, Says ANCOM
At the Digital Innovation Summit Bucharest 2025, Valeriu Zgonea, President of the National Authority for Management and Regulation in Communications (ANCOM), emphasized the crucial role of electronic communications in global connectivity, economic infrastructure, and national security. He highlighted ANCOM's efforts to address digital service challenges, such as combating online disinformation and ensuring resilience against cyber threats, CE Report quotes Agerpres
Zgonea stressed that as telecommunications evolve, with increasing integration of AI and non-terrestrial networks, securing infrastructure is more critical than ever. He warned of rising cyber threats and the need for diversification to maintain resilience in the face of inevitable cyberattacks.
He also noted Romania’s involvement in global cybersecurity efforts and the importance of collaboration across borders to protect critical infrastructure. Zgonea praised Romania’s leadership in blockchain technology, while acknowledging challenges in areas like interoperability and energy consumption.
