UN experts warn “Epstein Files” reveal large-scale sexual abuse

Evidence contained in the “Epstein Files” reveals “disturbing and credible sexual abuse, trafficking and systematic, large-scale exploitation of women and girls.”

This warning comes from United Nations experts who, after analyzing the case of Jeffrey Epstein, question how “such a network was able to prosper for so long at the heart of the political, economic and media elites” of various countries, CE Report quotes ANSA.

According to the UN experts, the Epstein files suggest “the existence of a global criminal enterprise” that raises “terrifying implications regarding the level of impunity for such crimes.” Some of the acts described could, under international law, amount to sexual slavery, torture, enforced disappearances or crimes against humanity.

US judicial investigations, the United Nations notes, gradually uncovered a system led by Epstein to recruit young girls — often vulnerable minors — who were sexually exploited in several of the financier’s residences in the United States and the Caribbean.

The experts denounce “serious shortcomings” in the process of disclosing information related to the case and stress the urgent need for procedures that protect victims, so that “none of them suffers further harm.”

Finally, despite the number of documents released, the experts say few new investigations have been opened. They therefore call for the lifting of statutes of limitations that could prevent certain prosecutions and broader inquiries into possible complicity.

Based on documents highlighting links between Jeffrey Epstein and prominent figures in several other countries, including the United Kingdom, Norway and France, the experts warn that “no one is too rich or too powerful to be above the law.”
