PM Recean Visits Innovative Farm in Cahul
Prime Minister Dorin Recean visited the Mihov family agricultural business in Burlacu village, Cahul district, where around 2,000 hectares are cultivated with fruit trees, crops, and vineyards. The Mihovs are nationally renowned for growing Moldova’s largest table grapes, having planted over 130 grape varieties sourced globally, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES
The prime minister commended the business for its innovation and modernization over more than two decades, much of it supported by government-funded programs. So far, the company has received over 3 million lei in public investments, enabling the installation of a high-efficiency irrigation system and a modern water pumping station that significantly boosts harvest yields.
The farm also features three reservoirs, a personal weather station, and soil moisture sensors for precision agriculture. Currently, the enterprise employs 146 permanent staff and many seasonal workers, playing a key role in the regional economy.
During his visit, Recean also met with other local entrepreneurs to discuss smart farming technologies. In 2021, 16 Cahul district producers joined the Table Grapes cluster and received €100,000 through the EU4Moldova programme to upgrade equipment and participate in training.
