Slovenia's basketball superstar reportedly breaks off engagement

Slovenia's basketball superstar Luka Dončić has broken off his engagement to his long-time partner Anamaria Goltes, according to the Slovenian tabloid Slovenske Novice.

The couple got engaged in July 2023 in the Slovenian lakeside resort town of Bled, CE Report quotes The Slovenia Times.

The couple, who welcomed their second daughter in December last year, have been rumoured to have trouble in their relationship for a while.

Slovenske Novice now cites reliable sources in reporting that Dončić broke off the engagement and initiated child custody proceedings.

Goltes has deleted all their photos together from her Instagram profile in recent days, the newspaper reports. Media have also reported that she did not publicly wish Dončić a happy birthday as he turned 27 on 28 February.

After the couple's second daughter was born in Slovenia, Dončić spent a few days in his homeland. The 24ur.com news portal has reported that he did not come back to see his girls since. He then spent a holiday break in Mexico.

The Los Angeles Lakers forward-guard reportedly met Goltes at the age of 12 while on holiday with his family in Croatia.
