Grammy-nominated singer Duncan Sheik passes away

Singer and songwriter Duncan Sheik has died at the age of 56, according to a post on his social media account.

The post was accompanied by a photo of him smiling and holding a guitar. The first line of the caption announced his death, which occurred on Thursday, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.

“The world has lost a rare talent and a deeply influential voice in music and theater,” the post said.

The cause of death has not yet been disclosed, but direct sources told TMZ that the Grammy-nominated singer had received medical care in the intensive care unit of a hospital in New York City earlier this week.

Sheik, 56, emerged on the music scene in 1996 with his self-titled debut album. The album was certified Gold in the United States, while his song “Barely Breathing” earned him a Grammy nomination.

He released several more albums in the following years, although none achieved the same level of success as his debut.
