Tina Karol Foundation donates medical equipment to Kharkiv children's hospital
The Tina Karol Charitable Foundation has purchased everything necessary for the complete renovation of the pediatric oncology department, including equipment and medical supplies worth approximately UAH 3 million.
“These children are living through two wars at the same time: the fight for freedom and the fight for their own health. And they are enduring both. What struck me was not the hardship — it was their resilience. Open, bright children. Parents who do not allow themselves to break down. Doctors who work as if there were no war, even though it reminds them of its presence every day. This team consists of happy people in a place where being happy is the hardest. Kharkiv is unbeatable in this sense. It is a truly unique city,” Tina Karol said.
Among the items delivered were biological safety cabinets, operating lights, medical refrigerators, adjustable and children's beds, infusion systems, central venous catheterization kits and needles for trephine biopsy. These are all essential components of the daily treatment of a child with an oncological diagnosis.
The Foundation's mission was made possible with the support of Odesa-based entrepreneur, investor and philanthropist Oleksandr Yakovenko, who contributed his own funds to the project.
“I know the feeling of having a child in hospital. No one can take away their pain, but we can make their time in hospital more comfortable, give parents an opportunity to spend more time with their children and reduce the financial burden. When it comes to children, especially those undergoing difficult treatment, you want to do everything possible to ensure that they have not only doctors and modern equipment around them, but also conditions that help the family get through this difficult period a little more easily,” Oleksandr Yakovenko said.
