Montenegro to raise minimum salary from January 2027

All salaries in Montenegro, in both the public and private sectors, are expected to increase from January under the government's new EURO MODEL programme.

Under the programme, the minimum net salary for employees in positions requiring primary or lower education will be €1,000, while employees in positions requiring secondary education will receive a minimum of €1,250, and those requiring higher education €1,400.

The programme covers more than 250,000 employees, CE Report quotes FENA.

Salaries could increase further if social partners accept the government's proposal to apply an increase in the coefficient calculation value equally to the public and private sectors.

From 2027, pensions are expected to be adjusted four times a year, with the average pension projected to exceed €600 in April. The minimum pension is expected to surpass €500.

In addition, every pensioner will receive an extra €100 for the winter in December.

The government adopted the model at its session and will submit it to the Parliament of Montenegro for consideration.
