Albania's retail trade records 6.8% annual growth in 2Q2026
In Albania, retail trade volume in the second quarter of 2026 increased by 6.8% compared with the same period last year, according to preliminary data.
The retail trade volume index, estimated based on the deflated sales value index, stood at 125.0 in the second quarter of 2026, up 6.8% year-on-year, CE Report informs via the National Institute of Statistics' official website.
On a seasonally adjusted basis, the index increased by 1.6% compared with the previous quarter.
Retail trade excluding motor fuel sales recorded a 6.3% increase in turnover volume compared with the second quarter of 2025.
Meanwhile, turnover volume in the group “Retail sale of motor fuel in specialised stores” rose by 8.4% year-on-year.
On a quarterly basis, seasonally adjusted turnover volume in retail trade excluding motor fuel sales increased by 1.3% in the second quarter of 2026 compared with the first quarter.
Motor fuel retail sales also recorded growth, with seasonally adjusted turnover volume increasing by 2.1% compared with the first quarter of 2026.
The main retail groups all contributed positively to the overall increase in turnover volume.
“Non-food products in specialised and non-specialised stores” made the largest contribution, at +2.7 percentage points, followed by “Retail sale of motor fuels” at +2.1 percentage points.
The group “Food, beverages and tobacco in specialised and non-specialised stores” contributed +2.0 percentage points to the overall growth in the retail trade turnover volume index.
