IDF investigates classified material used in “Naza”

The Chief of Staff of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir, has ordered a legal review and an investigation into the unauthorized disclosure of classified material used in the production of the film “Naza,” which has been accused of spreading “slander” and serious false allegations against Israeli soldiers and commanders.

The IDF said in a statement, CE Report quotes ANSA.

Zamir said the film deliberately distorts reality, undermining the legitimacy of the military and the State of Israel. He ordered the creation of an interagency, multidisciplinary team led by the head of the Planning Directorate.

The team will develop action plans and tools to counter what the military describes as false allegations against the Israel Defense Forces and its soldiers, working with Israeli and foreign experts.

He also instructed the military attorney general to examine and pursue possible legal action concerning the film and the individuals involved.

The military will separately examine the cybersecurity aspects of the production, including the possible involvement of individuals in the unauthorized disclosure of classified material used in making the film.

Zamir also called for a broad national and international public diplomacy effort in cooperation with the Foreign Ministry, the Justice Ministry, the National Public Diplomacy Directorate and other relevant bodies.

The Israel Defense Forces said they “will use every tool at their disposal to protect their soldiers, commanders and combat troops, as well as the reputation of the Israeli military.”
