Kanye West concert generated €35 million, attracted 60,000 spectators

Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport of Albania Blendi Gonxhja said that Kanye West’s large-scale music event in Albania delivered an estimated direct economic impact of about €35 million, describing the events industry as a key driver of the country’s development and international promotion.

According to Gonxhja, the concert attracted more than 23,000 foreign visitors and an audience of around 60,000 spectators, generating significant economic activity across various sectors, while tax revenues alone exceeded the investment made to stage the event, CE Report quotes ATA.

The minister said such events should not be viewed merely as artistic activities, but as opportunities to boost tourism, enhance the country’s international image and deliver economic benefits.

“The events economy is not just about entertainment; it is a real economic driver. It is not a party or a spectacle, but an extraordinary means of promotion that may seem indirect, yet has led to more than 115 times the usual number of online searches and clicks for Albania,” Gonxhja said, adding that the concert sparked greater interest, curiosity, recommendations and international exposure on an unprecedented scale.

According to the Tourism, Culture and Sport Minister, the level of promotion generated by Kanye West’s concert would be difficult to achieve through conventional marketing methods.

He said the government’s strategy is to integrate Albania into the global circuit of major events, arguing that such activities deliver more than entertainment by attracting tourists, encouraging investment, enhancing the country’s image and creating direct economic benefits.
