Kazakhstan, North Macedonia Explore Renewable Energy Ties
Exchange of experiences with Kazakhstan, a country with a long-standing tradition and expertise in the energy sector, is significant in the process of building a sustainable energy future, said Minister of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources, Sonja Bozhinovska, at a meeting with counterpart Erlan Akkenzhenov in Astana, CE Report quotes MIA.
Bozhinovska and Akkenzhenov discussed experiences in the process of energy transition, role of critical minerals in the green economy, as well as potentials for cooperation in the sector of renewable energy sources, geological research and investments, the Ministry of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources said in a press release.
Minister Bozhinovska said North Macedonia is committed to building a sustainable and transparent model by using domestic mineral resources, while regional and international cooperation is a key prerequisite for successful management of global energy challenges.
Minister Akkenzhenov welcomed North Macedonia's commitment for green transition, highlighting that Kazakhstan sees opportunities for cooperation with countries in the Western Balkans, primarily the exchange of know-how and access to new technologies.
"Kazakhstan is ready to share experiences and build new partnerships with countries that have a clear vision for energy development and rational use of resources," noted Akkenzhenov.
Interlocutors agreed there is real potential for enhancement of bilateral cooperation in the energy sector, identifying concrete possibilities for exchange of knowledge and expertise, specifically in the development of hydrogen as the energy source of the future, an area in which Kazakhstan has already implemented advanced projects.
Kazakhstan's experience in setting up and applying battery systems for energy storage could benefit North Macedonia in the process of stabilizing and modernizing the national energy system, reads the press release.
