Rich arts program awaits Türkiye's Izmir audiences
Izmir will host a rich cultural and arts program from January 19 to 25, ranging from opera and theater to concerts, talks, and workshops.
The Izmir State Opera and Ballet will present the opera “Attila” on January 19 and the concert “Selections from The Tales of Hoffmann” on January 24 at the Bornova Culture and Arts Center Necdet Aydın Stage, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency.
Throughout the week, the Izmir State Theatre will stage various plays at different venues. “Play Within a Play,” “Yuko,” and “The Lion Who Didn’t Want to Be King” will be performed at the Karşıyaka Ragıp Haykır Stage; “Hamlet” at the Bornova Culture and Arts Center Bozkurt Kuruç Stage; and “Insect Hotel” at the Bornova Foyer Stage.
The Izmir State Turkish World Dance and Music Ensemble will give the concert “Tangosas, Waltzes, Kantos” on January 21 at the Aydın Germencik Municipality Conference Hall.
The Izmir State Symphony Orchestra will also perform on January 23 at the Ahmed Adnan Saygun Arts Center (AASSM), conducted by Fuad İbrahimov and featuring soloist Sophie Dervaux.
Seminars, workshops, and exhibitions at IKSF
The Izmir Culture and Arts Factory (IKSF) will bring art lovers together with various events throughout the week.
The “Family Day at the Museum” workshop led by museum researcher Zülal Gözde Görkem and Gülçin Bedi’s seminar titled “Hearing the Untold: The Art of Effective Communication” will be held on January 19.
Nihat Demirkol’s seminar “Rhetoric: A Reverse Evolution Story from the Speaking Human to the Non-Speaking Human” will take place on January 20, while Prof. Dr. Murat Tuncay’s talk “The Laughing Mask of Theatre: Comedy” will be held on January 21.
İrem Oğuz’s seminar “Museums in the Digital Age: Technological Transformation and Artificial Intelligence” will be organized on January 22, and Hasan Işıklı’s wish-themed workshop “Imaginary Memory” on January 23.
The children’s workshop “Curious as the Sky” will also be held on January 23 at the Alsancak Public Library.
Neşe Süzen Bengisu’s exhibition “Breaks” will open on January 20 and will be open to visitors until February 1.
The exhibition “Headscarf Tying in the Aegean,” organized as part of Folklore Days, will open on January 25 and can be visited until February 7.
Concerts at AASSM
The Izmir Chamber Orchestra will perform a concert on January 21 at AASSM under the direction of Strasbourg Philharmonic Orchestra Music Director Aziz Shokhakimov, featuring Haydn’s “Trumpet Concerto,” Gershwin’s “An American in Paris,” and Rimsky-Korsakov’s masterpiece “Scheherazade.”
Levent Gündüz will meet art lovers on January 22 at AASSM with his concert “a star for the 30th year,” featuring a repertoire ranging from opera and pop to world music and Turkish classical music.
