Türkiye's Çorum baklava receives geographical indication protection
In a written statement by the Türkiye's Çorum Municipality, it was noted that Çorum baklava is a special delicacy that requires mastery and patience.
The statement said that an application for geographical indication registration for Çorum baklava was submitted to the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (TÜRKPATENT) on February 23, 2024, and emphasized that the registration officially protects a traditional local flavor, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency.
Mayor Halil İbrahim Aşgın, whose remarks were included in the statement, noted that with Çorum baklava, the number of geographically registered products in the city has risen to 28.
Aşgın stressed that the registration strengthens Çorum’s brand value in the field of gastronomy and added:
“This special delicacy, which requires mastery and patience, reflects the unique character of Çorum’s cuisine. In recent years, Çorum has become one of the cities standing out in gastronomy. In line with our sustainable gastronomy vision, our efforts to promote and preserve our traditional flavors will continue.”
