EasyJet announces return to Ljubljana-Berlin route

The British low-cost carrier EasyJet plans to restart flights between Ljubljana and Berlin after a seven-year pause, making Berlin the fourth destination it serves from the Slovenian capital.

Flights between the Slovenian and German capitals will be operated twice a week, with the first flight to take place on 7 April 2027, CE Report quotes The Slovenia Times.

While the link between Ljubljana and Berlin is yet to be officially announced by EasyJet, the new service was spotted by Ex-Yu Aviation, a regional aviation news portal. Tickets can already be purchased on the carrier's website.

According to Ex-Yu Aviation, EasyJet will operate an Airbus A320 on the route.

The carrier had operated the Ljubljana-Berlin route three times per week between 2018 and 2020, when it shut down the service due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The new service, to be operated on Wednesdays and Sundays, is part of a significant expansion of EasyJet's operations out of the Slovenian capital.

The carrier has long offered flights to London Gatwick and will add a three-times-a-week service to London Luton Airport, where it is based, on 26 October.

In November last year it launched a service to Manchester, and in April this year it started flying to Edinburgh.

The carrier is also in the process of acquiring the Ljubljana Airport-based aircraft maintenance provider Adria Tehnika from the Czech investment fund Hartenberg Holding, after an agreement was reached at the end of last year.
