Bulgarian poet, writer, and publisher Bozhana Apostolova passed away on Monday at the age of 80. Her son, MP Manol Peykov, shared the news on Facebook, remembering her as a guiding light for poets and writers, CE Report quotes BTA

Born on May 9, 1945, near Pazardzhik, Apostolova studied Bulgarian Studies and History at St. Cyril and St. Methodius University of Veliko Tarnovo. In 1990, she founded the publishing house Janet 45, known for championing Bulgarian authors like Georgi Gospodinov, Ivan Radoev, and Dora Gabe.

Apostolova published 10 poetry collections, four novels, and 12 children’s books, with her works translated into several languages. She received numerous awards, including the Order of SS Cyril and Methodius and the Hristo G. Danov Award for her contribution to Bulgarian literature.

She also established the Ivan Nikolov poetry award and cultural initiatives like Plovdiv Reads, Young Plovdiv Reads, and the Art Without Borders foundation.
